Review: Salon de Rose SM City Cebu

I am pretty sure you guys are familiar with Salon de Rose. They are everywhere – SaveMore, SM City Cebu, Ayala Center Cebu even along Escario Street. This is purely my point of view of their service, price and ambiance --  based on the last visit.

The Price

I went to Salon de Rose SM City Cebu to get a haircut, and to have a mani and pedi. Here’s how much I paid for them:

Haircut: P 120.00

Manicure: P120.00

Pedicure: P140.00

Tip: P100

TOTAL: P478.00

I wish I saved my receipt but I didn’t. I will take a picture of it the next time I go there (if I go there again ever).

The guy who did my hair was very quiet and barely spoke a word to me. His companion was the one interviewing me a lot. Anyway, I dared to ask him how much their hair rebonding was. He said it was from P6,000 and up. Noted.

Hair Rebonding: P6,000+ (depends on hair length)

Price: Quite expensive for the ordinary Juan and Maria

The Service

The haircut was not impressive. I think the hair cutting process itself only took 10 minutes. I only asked for a layered cut + bangs. But still, so weird that it seemed so hurried. The result wasn’t all that bad but I barely felt pampered.

The mani-pedi was a weird experience. The lady who did my nails was named Astrid. She was very talkative and kept me entertained throughout the whole ordeal. The results were great but I noticed that they did not help me (or any of the customers) put on one of those salon slippers so the toenails will dry. They did not even have a nail dryer anywhere.

To be fair, the mani-pedi included massage with some sort of hand/feet lotion. And there was an LCD TV inside this mani-pedi room. The mani-pedi was way better than the haircut.

Overall, the service was 5/10

The Ambiance

The ambiance was typical salon ambiance. Nothing impressive, nothing new. Tony and Jackey’s salons are way better.

It is clean though and it has large mirrors and ad equate lighting. They provide magazines too in case you get bored.

Ambiance: 6/10

CONCLUSION

When I add all the elements up, their services simply does not justify their prices. Why?

  • Their hairdressers, manicurista, etc are the typical manang / gay salon attendants of those barangay salons. Yes, most of them are either loudmouths who chismis a lot, or aloof and grumpy. SMILES anyone?

  • The place is not a jolly salon to be. It just isn’t.

  • The results are not even incredible. How I wish I just went back to my unknown parlor with my trusted hairdresser. I would have spent a lot less and enjoyed a non-chismis chitchat and got served a cup of coffee for free.

Satisfaction: 5/10
