Father Pio was known as St. Pio of Pietrelcina, of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. He was a friar, stigmatist and mystic. He was born in Franceso, Forgione, Pietrelcina, Bevato on May 25, 1887 and died in San Giovanni, Rotondo, Foggia, Italy (September 23, 1887) at the age of 81.

He was beatified in May 2, 1999 and canonized in June 16, 2012 by Pope John Paul ll in Saint Peter's Square, Vatican City, Italy. His Major Shrine was located in San Giovanni, Rotondo, Italy called "Sanctuary of St. Pio of Pietricina. 

Padre Pio's heart relic will be housed at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Archdiocese of Cebu from October 11 (Thursday) to 13 (Saturday), 2018.
